How to use mail.your_domain.com for SMTP with iPhone.

First, turn OFF Wi-Fi before setting up the email account for you@your_domain.com.

The reason to turn this OFF is that some ISP's block access to Port 25, which will prevent the account from getting created. You can change the Port to 26 AFTER the account is created, but not during the creation.

Now go ahead and setup the email account, specifying both the POP3 (tap the POP at the top) and the SMTP with:
Server: mail.your_domain.com
Username: you@your_domain.com
Password: your password

After you get the account created, choose this account from the Settings > Mail.
Then scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server and tap SMTP. Then tap on the mail.your_domain.com server.

Now tap on Server Port and change it to 26

That's it. Now you can turn Wi-Fi back on.
